A small contracting firm turning one good job into a repeatable process
How a small team can capture the way their best job ran and use it as the starting point for every job after it.
This is an illustrative walkthrough of a typical situation, not a report about a named customer.
The situation
In a small firm the process lives in the owner's head. Jobs go well when the owner is on site and less well when they are not, and every new hire learns by watching rather than from anything written down.
The flow
The owner builds one flow for their most common job — a bathroom refit — with the phases and checks they would insist on personally. Each new job is started as a project from that flow, named after the client's address.
Because a project keeps the phases it started with, the owner can keep improving the flow without disturbing jobs already under way.
What changes
Site leads follow the same checks the owner would. The dashboard shows every live job and the phase it is in, which replaces the morning round of phone calls. When something goes wrong on a job, the fix is added to the flow, so it is caught on every job afterwards.
